About Freedom Cycles
Freedom Cycles Crew

Freedom Cycles of Oklahoma City came about in early 1974 when brothers Dan and Terry "Rip" Johnson, along with mechanic the late Donald "Duck" Cunningham sought out a retail location for their ever increasing bike building business.
Since quality custom parts and service was such a rarity in the Oklahoma area the original Freedom Choppers was born.Through years of hard work the crew developed a very loyal base that formed a brotherhood of customers that continues through this day.
Starting with a small location that had been a grocery at 41st and South Robinson in Oklahoma City that shared a divided space with a TV repair shop, it would not be long that continued growth required all the space that was available at this site.
Once the entire building was acquired a push was on that resulted in the creation of dozens of Top Show winning Harley Davidson, Triumph and BSA full custom but street driven motorcycles.
The early 1980's brought many changes into the Oklahoma bike scene and introduced many styles of both high performance and street savvy customs.
The new generation of Hot Rod performance along with the Street Fast look ushered in a new shop name to accent the change and so the original and still current name, FREEDOM Custom & Performance CYCLES began.
This new focus along with a ever increasing parts inventory sent the brothers searching for a much larger facility. The former "Sherm Reed" Auto Part Store located 10 blocks north was selected.    At 3119 S. Robinson the Freedom crew began reworking the site which had started life in the roaring 1920's as a "Drive Into" full service auto shop for Model T's.
With the addition of master parts man Dale Cole in 1985 the mold was set to create the largest and most respected Parts-Accessory-Service Departments specializing in vintage bikes up to the newly released Evolution Harley's.
5 years later after filling every square inch of parts space available, the connecting building used as the Capitol Hill Hatchery was purchased. The added display and warehouse space made possible the room required to properly show off the thousands of pieces of "Stockers-to-Strokers" items. Along with the latest addition in 2005 of the last section of occupiablearea that was formally the late "Brackett's Marine" plus the SW 31st and Robinson space that was formally "Smitty's Automotive" Freedom had acquired all the connected commercial property.
The decision was made and carried out to convert the former "Brackett's" to a motorcycle "Builders Room" featuring loads of Tanks-Fenders-Exhaust Pipes and Seats.
With the return of our second master parts man Brad "Oil Can" Wardlaw and our addition of newer parts and personal and factory trained service technicians, the needs of our customers and their machines, brand new or old, Knucklehead to Twin Cam, could be met.
To past and present workers and customers we offera firm thank you.
One thing remains the same, the years spent buildinga rock solid reputation of fairness and putting "Integrity First" still guides our day-to-day operation. You can rest assured that the parts & services that you spend hard earned money on are the same high quality as we use on our own bikes. Bike parts from bike people that live and love motorcycles.
So if your new to the bike scene or just new to Oklahoma just ask REAL BIKE PEOPLE; who has ton's of in-stock items, great prices, and lots of answers? You'll hear it a thousand times, the guys down at Freedom's!
